Contractors and other service providers who have provided satisfactory service to CWCA residents

In links at the bottom of this page, we present lists of two kinds of service providers--at-home and away-from-home-- who have provided satisfactory service to you (CWCA residents) and whose names you'd like to see on the list. We provide this page only as a vehicle for individual residents to voluntarily identify for other community residents the names of contractors or providers who have provided satisfactory service. Residents may call the submitter to get additional information if desired. Listings here do not constitute an endorsement of the named contractors or providers by the Chesterbrook Woods Citizens' Association.

Our list of eligible providers for away-from-home services has been limited to those types of providers for whom it is often difficult to find good references. Many of those not on our list of eligibles are already listed in Washington Checkbook Magazine (published twice a year), which is a useful source of ratings of local contractors and providers of many kinds. It offers access to online reports from past issues, or you may find them at your local library.
Another very useful publication is Angie's List for ratings of local contractors.

Do you have someone who has provided satisfactory service to you and whose name you'd like to see on the list? If so, please provide type of the service, name of the provider, provider's phone number, your name and the date the work was performed and submit it to the webmaster. Note: Names are dropped after they have been on the list for three years unless another resident comes forward with the contractor's name.

Away-from-home providers currently eligible for listings are limited to the following: barbers, beauty shops, child care centers, cleaners, dressmakers, financial advisors, independent auto repair shops, kennels, funeral homes, picture framers, self-storage providers, small appliance repairers, tailors, travel agents, upholsterers, veterinarians.

Away-from-home providers not eligible for listings at this time: banks, car dealers, dentists, insurers, internet and e-mail service providers, investment firms, lawyers, lenders, physicians, realtors, and retail stores of all kinds.

Examples of at-home providers eligible for listings (other types may be submitted): carpet/drapery cleaners, carpet installers, driveway pavers, electricians, fence builders, heating and a/c contractors, home security installers, house remodelers, house-cleaners, independent computer problem solvers, irrigation installers, landscapers, lawn care providers, major appliance repairers, masons, painters, plumbers, roofers, snow removers, tree removers, and window installers.

Who may submit listings:
Any resident of Chesterbrook Woods may submit a provider for listing if the resident has no financial or family interest in the provider's company and has actually used the provider's services within the past three years and found them to be very satisfactory, to the degree that the resident would engage that provider again if needed. The resident offering the listing must be identified in the listing. The year in which service was last provided must be listed. A provider listed will be removed from the list when five years have elapsed since the service was performed or after being on the list for three years, whichever comes first. A provider may also be removed from the list if a resident subsequently reports unsatisfactory service by that provider.
